Second semifinals and second qualifying match as the league season draws to an undistinguished close. The home teams won by 51 and 34 points respectively in their away gains last week.
Exiles apparently played very well in Enköping last week and they will be even stronger with a few players returning from the GP-Sevens. Any result other than a runaway win for Exiles would be a surprise. Pingvin were perhaps not so convincing last week in Gothenburg, the try count was only 3 - 0. But Göteborg struggled to get a team together for their league game in Trelleborg a few weeks ago and Pingvin could well run up a high score as well.
The Ladies game limps on in a state of near collapse. First Uppsala withdrew from it´s semifinal place and that was taken by Skåne Ladies who lost 44 - 5 at home to Vänersborg. Let´s hope they make the long journey to Vänersborg on Saturday, although the probability of a place in the final is extremely small. In the other semi Exiles won 60 - 0 down in Trelleborg and now Pingvin find they cannot get a team together to play the return in Stockholm. Apart from Exiles getting yet another w.o. there is also the question of the 21.000:- which Exiles paid for the trip last week. Pingvin should be asked to pay half that sum so that the cost of the semis is shared.
Finally, the second match between Södertälje and Troján for the fifth spot in Allsvenskan next year. Södertälje won 37 - 24 at home but they were only three points ahead until scoring two tries in the last five minutes. Not out of the question that Troján could turn the tables at home. Irrespective of the outcome, I think most involved clubs would like to see both clubs move up to Allsvenskan next year. The defeated qualifier last year, Göteborg, moved up and stayed up, but then of course Hammarby withdrew and Allsvenskan was back to five teams. Six teams in 2019 would be more of a league and I don´t think anyone would be out of their depth, although the standard as a whole would not be terribly high.
