Exiles went to Uppsala, with a strong side, looking for the first win of the season. Exiles had 8 former Swedish champions on the field and Uppsala had 2 (both former Exiles players).
Uppsala also had a good team and needed the victory to stay in the hunt for promotion.
Exiles started well, with a try and conversion and were close to scoring several tries. Uppsala came back and scored a try, due to slack defence. It was 7-5 at half time.
In the second half Exiles quickly scored two tries and were up 19 to 5 and had lots of chances to score again.
The game changed after Exiles 3rd try, and Uppsala came back and scored 3 tries in a row and were ahead 24 – 19 with 5 minutes to go.
Exiles looked tired and Uppsala were looking for one more try, to put the game away.
The highlight of the game was Richard Crookston great tackle on the Uppsala flyhalf, who would have scored, if Richard had not put his body on the line.
With 2 minutes to go, Exiles score again, far out to the right and miss the difficult kick.
Exiles came back after the restart, looking to win the game.
With seconds on the clock and with a 3 to 1 overlap 3 meters from Uppsala line, Exiles decide to pass the lone Uppsala defender, who promptly kicks the ball into touch and the game is history.
With more players coming back from injury and other comittments (Exiles 2 had 27 no thank you´s on Saturday), the next game against Attila is going to be a great game.
Attila are unbeaten this year and Exiles have only won one point, but the game on the 19th of June could go any way.
