Final update 5 Oct 2009
Exiles men just made the final, by only losing by 5 points against Hammarby. I´m the first to recognise that Hammarby were the better team in both semi-finals, but if you have a cunning plan to make sure that the best finisher in Swedish rugby NEVER gets the ball, you lose.
At one point during the 2nd semi-final I thought, that’s it, no final this year, which means that I don´t have to spend hours and hours the following 2 weeks, defending the club and its players, from this years accusations.
Alas, this was not to be, Hammarby started giving away penalties and on the 3rd penalty attempt, Exiles were back into the final.
I have received quite a lot of feedback, from rugby fans all over the world, in regards my play-off update. The common thread is, it can`t be that bad, you must be putting a spin on.
My answer is that’s it far worse then any rugby fan in the world can imagine.
The Swedish Rugby Union have to deal with all the antics from Enköpings Director of Rugby and introduced several year ago a system where you have to put in formal protest and pay a protest fee; if the protest goes through, you get your money back.
Since this system was introduced, every single protest which has been submitted by the Enköping Rugby Club has been rejected and the Swedish Rugby Union have kept the money.
Instead of learning from this, the response from Enköpings Director of Rugby is that Exiles are cheating scum plus that the Swedish Rugby Union interpret the laws and regulations in Exiles favour, every time.
Enköping have forfeited a lot more money than Exiles have ever been fined from the Swedish Rugby Union.
When confronted why he spends his own time and the clubs money to further his vendetta against Exiles, the Enköping Director of Rugby answers that the most important aspect of running a rugby club, is that all laws and regulations have to be followed to a T.
It is common knowledge that Enköping Rugby Club is the best run club in Sweden, they have the best facilities, best players, best coaches, best youth set-up and of course the best administrators and they never make any mistakes.
Two seasons ago, one of their players got a red card, which means that you automatically miss one game. For various reasons the red card was never reported and the player kept on playing, as if nothing had happened.
The Swedish Rugby Union started an enquiry, where several people from Enköping and a club from the south of Sweden lied and told the Swedish Rugby Union that no red cards had been submitted.
Exiles had about 50 youth players and coaches on the side line, they saw the red card, as did all other spectators and public, it was also reported in the local newspaper.
The Enköping Director of Rugby, who was also on the Swedish Rugby Union board at the time, remember the one who thinks that the most important thing within Swedish rugby is that the laws and regulations should be followed, decided that the best way for him to handle the situation was to inform the Swedish rugby Union: I was not present, I don´t know what happened and Im not getting involved
The moral compass, which is so important, when Exiles are involved, was less strong, when his own club broke laws and lied to the Swedish Rugby Union.
As I wrote last week, Exiles don´t report other clubs and we let the whole matter go. Lets say it was the other way around, Exiles played a red carded player and then lied to the Union.
Is there anybody in Swedish Rugby that thinks that Mr Moral Compass would have acted the same way as Exiles? I look forward to reading your comments.
The latest action from Enköping Rugby Club is that the´ve sent a letter to the Swedish Rugby Union asking for the Union to act, because Exiles have club members who are prepared to pay off player club debts and give financial support to players.
This is not the first time this accusation is lodged against Exiles, Enköpings Director of Rugby accuses Exiles of economic doping. This was last discussed at a chairman conference which was held in April, in Norrköping,
I confirmed that there are quite a few affluent Exiles members, who don´t mind buying airfares, giving flats in property they owe privately or giving pocket money to players. To my knowledge there is no law telling private individuals, living in Sweden, how they may spend their own money.
This only confirms the view, that Exiles are cheating scum.
Enköping U13 were supposed to have played Exiles U13 on Saturday, the usual phone call on Friday evening, were not coming.
I feel sorry for the boys, who yet again, are stood up and are not allowed to play.
U13 youth games are obviously not a priority at Enköping, but resources and time will always be found, in order to confirm that Exiles are cheating scum.
Ill keep all readers up to date with the latest happenings, in regards the antics of Mr Moral Compass.
